Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has taken issue with the notion that progress is inevitable regardless of the government in power. Inaugurating an industrial summit organised by the Kanjikode Industrial Forum here on Monday, Mr. Vijayan claimed that the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government’s achievements in the State’s development would be unmatched by any other government.
The Chief Minister reiterated that it was the LDF government that initiated the Industrial Smart City project as well as the Kochi-Bengaluru Industrial Corridor. He said none of that would have happened had any other government been in power in Kerala. The State under his leadership, he said, could reach the global stage in industrial sector.
He said infrastructure development had come to a standstill in the State. “But none can now say that National Highway development will not happen in Kerala,” he said.
The Chief Minister criticised the Union government for withholding support to Kerala for national highway development. He said that while other States received funds for land acquisition, Kerala was unfairly excluded.
The Chief Minister also expressed disappointment with the low attendance at the summit. He criticised the organisers for underestimating the event’s potential and failing to capitalise on its significance.
Mr. Vijayan also took the media to task for ignoring the government’s developmental achievements in the State. He alleged that certain sections were intentionally under-reporting the government’s successes.
