Israel reportedly asked Meta to remove a range of social media posts related to its war with Iran in the early days of the conflict, which broke out after US and Israeli strikes on Iran in late February, according to leaked internal documents.
The Intercept reported that internal company records show Israeli authorities petitioned Meta to take down Facebook and Instagram posts that included pro-Iran sentiment, criticism of Israel, and images depicting the aftermath of Iranian missile strikes.
The documents also suggest that Meta, owned by Mark Zuckerberg, complied with some of the requests, although it is not clear on what basis specific content was removed.
