Amid escalating tensions between Tehran and Washington, Indian embassy in Tehran on Monday issued an advisory, asking all its citizens currently in Iran to leave to country by any available means of transport.
The advisory read as a continuation of the announcement on January 5, when the Government asked Indian nationals to leave during the Khamenei regime’s crackdown on the protests that took over the country.
“In continuation of the advisory issued by the Government of India on 5 January 2026, and in view of the evolving situation in Iran, Indian nationals who are currently in Iran (students, pilgrims, business persons and tourists) are advised to leave Iran by available means of transport, including commercial flights," the advisory read.
“All Indian citizens and PIOs should exercise due caution, avoid areas of protests or demonstrations, stay in contact with the Indian Embassy in Iran and monitor local media for any developments," the advisory read.
The Embassy has advised Indian citizens, including students, pilgrims, businesspersons and tourists, to exercise caution, avoid areas of protests or demonstrations, and remain in contact with mission officials while closely monitoring local media developments.
Indian nationals have also been asked to keep their travel and immigration documents, including passports and identification papers, readily accessible.
In addition, the mission has urged all Indians in Iran who have not yet registered with the Embassy to do so through the designated online portal. In case of internet disruptions, families in India have been requested to complete the registration on their behalf.
The embassy also issued emergency helpline numbers and an official email address to facilitate immediate support.
“The emergency contact helplines of the Indian Embassy are provided below: Mobile Numbers: +989128109115; +989128109109; +989128109102; +989932179359. Email: [email protected]," it stated.
