The offseason buzz around LeBron James potentially leaving the Los Angeles Lakers has been intense. The speculation of his blockbuster trade to the Dallas Mavericks is also fueling.
Considering his (40) age and the Lakers' view on developing their younger prospects, it felt like James' gold and purple days are numbered. However, now, the chatter takes a leap after The Athletic’s Wednesday report stating James is set to remain a Laker for the 2025-26 season, quashing trade and buyout rumors.LeBron James to be a Laker for 2025-26 seasonThe report further states that the Lakers have not entertained discussions about trading or buying out James, and there’s no indication the NBA’s all-time leading scorer is looking to depart.
The 40-year-old, who exercised his $52.6 million player option last month, is expected to report to training camp this fall for his eighth season in purple and gold.
