FIFA significantly reduced standard ticket prices for Tuesday’s Club World Cup semifinal between Chelsea and Fluminense at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Prices dropped from $473.90 earlier in the week to just $13.40.
The governing body has implemented dynamic pricing throughout the 63-match tournament, adjusting costs based on demand.
By contrast, standard tickets for Wednesday’s semifinal between European champions Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid, also in New Jersey, start at $199.60.
Previous Price Drops in Quarterfinals
FIFA had also slashed ticket prices to as low as $11.15 for quarterfinal matches—one in Orlando, Florida, featuring Fluminense vs. Al Hilal, and another in Philadelphia between Chelsea and Palmeiras.
The steep cuts were first reported by The Athletic.
Sparse Crowds Throughout the Tournament
Many matches have seen low attendance. In fact, more than 400,000 seats went unfilled during the group stage of the Club World Cup in the United States.
So far, overall stadium occupancy has averaged just 56.8%, with total attendance reaching 556,369 out of a possible 979,373 seats across the first 16 games—leaving 423,004 seats empty.
One notable exception has been Real Madrid, which has consistently drawn large crowds. The Spanish club attracted at least 60,000 fans to each of its five matches, including a tournament-high attendance of 76,611 for Saturday’s quarterfinal win over Borussia Dortmund in New Jersey.
This expanded Club World Cup is being seen as a trial run for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will take place across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
