Argentine superstar Lionel Messi struck yet another brace in the MLS on Sunday as he helped Inter Miami to a 2-1 win over Nashville at the Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Messi opened the scoring in the 17th minute of the game to put the Herons in the lead, but Nashville’s Hany Mukhtar pegged his side back in the 49th minute before Messi settled the game in the 62nd minute.

Messi became the first player in the history of the league to score more than a goal in five consecutive regular-season games with his brace against Nashville.

Messi got the scoreboard ticking with a freekick in the first half of the game as the Miami-based side took a slender one-goal advantage into the break. But Nashville clawed their way back on level terms against the David Beckham-owned side as Mukhtar restored parity early in the second half.

Messi, however, ensured that the Herons would grab all points on offers as he intercepted a pass from the opposition goalkeeper before rounding him and slotting the ball into the net past sliding a sliding defender.

Messi’s streak of scoring two goals in a match began with Miami’s 4-2 victory over Montreal and continued with his double against Columbus in his team’s 5-1 win. The Argentine World Cup winner maintained his form as he returned to MLS action following the team’s participation in the revamped edition of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025. He again scored twice in Miami’s 4-1 triumph over Montreal before his performance against New England Revolution, where he netted twice in a 2-1 win.
