Liquor truck seized: Truck carrying illegal liquor seized in Hazaribag; Driver escapes after abandoning the vehicle amid police operation

Hazaribag: A truck carrying spurious liquor into Bihar was seized at a check point under Barhi police station limits of the district on Monday evening. As many as 33 cartons and 1,000 pouches of liquor were recovered from the driver’s cabin.

The driver however managed to flee, the police said on Tuesday.Barhi sub divisonal police officer Ajit Kumar Bimal said he asked Vinod Kumar, the officer-in-charge of Barhi police station, was asked to take action based on a tip-off about the vehicle. A vehicle checking drive was launched near Bilautia More. During the operation, police intercepted a truck bearing registration number BR01GC7072. Upon search, liquor was recovered from the driver’s cabin. It was however not known where the truck was coming from.“Further investigation is underway,” said Bimal, adding that during the operation, the driver abandoned the vehicle and escaped from the spot. “Efforts are on to trace and arrest him,” he said.
