List cases against Sabyasachi: HC to cops

Kolkata: The Calcutta HC on Monday directed the police to file a report disclosing the number of criminal cases pending against former TMC MLA and Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation (BMC) chairman Sabyasachi Dutta.A plea was filed by Dutta before the single bench of Justice Saugata Bhattacharyya seeking quashing of the extortion case, filed on June 9. It was alleged that Dutta extorted a businessman in 2018. He was arrested on June 9.Advocate Sandipan Ganguly, appearing for Dutta, submitted that it is apprehended that other criminal prosecutions may have been initiated against him, which are required to be disclosed.
