Live cartridges found in Belagavi dumpyard

Pourakarmikas cleaning up garbage found 59 live cartridges at a garbage dump site near a private school in Rani Channamma Nagar of Belagavi on Sunday.

They informed the police who sent the cartridges to a forensic laboratory. A police officer said that 41 of them are of one variety, while 18 belonged to another.

The cartridges have not been fired but they are unusable as they have rusted or damaged. This is probably because they were under debris for a long time.

A case has been registered. Investigation is on.
