The Greater Chennai Police have issued a Look Out Circular (LOC) against Lakshmana Perumal, who is believed to be in Singapore, in connection with the alleged attempt to lure TVK MLAs to defect.

The action follows after leads obtained during the interrogation of nine accused arrested in the case, including IPDS founder Thirunavukkarasu and Naresh, who were taken into two-day police custody for further questioning.

According to police sources, the arrested accused told investigators that negotiations over the alleged deal and the exchange of money took place at a star hotel in Guindy.

The investigators further said that after details of the alleged operation surfaced, Lakshmana Perumal, who was in Singapore, deleted WhatsApp messages linked to the negotiations and arranged for the deletion of CCTV footage from the hotel. The police are verifying these claims as part of the ongoing investigation.

The case was registered by the Triplicane police on a complaint filed by Uthangarai MLA N. Elaiyaraja, who alleged that TVK legislators were offered money to switch allegiance.

Based on the findings so far, the Chennai police issued the LOC to ensure that law enforcement agencies are alerted if Lakshmana Perumal attempts to enter or leave the country. Further investigation is under way.
