Luxembourg Eyes Green Finance Boost for Gujarat

Gandhinagar: Finance Minister of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Gilles Roth, and his delegation paid a courtesy visit to Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel in Gandhinagar.

With 115 banks, assets under management exceeding 8 trillion euros, and a strong presence in investment and financial services across nearly 80 countries. In this context, Luxembourg expressed its keen interest in further strengthening and expanding financial relations with India and Gujarat.

During the discussions, the Chief Minister stated that Gujarat is a state with prudent financial management. He further noted that the state is prepared to take the lead in Green Energy, Green Financing and Green Growth, and held deliberations to ensure that Gujarat benefits from Luxembourg’s expertise in the fields of Green Bonds and Green Financing.

He also emphasised exploring possibilities of mutual cooperation to realize the Prime Minister’s vision of Green Growth through renewable-green energy and Mission LiFE, promoting an environment-friendly lifestyle, through municipal green bonds as well as long-term infrastructure and sustainable development initiatives.

Luxembourg’s Finance Minister Gilles Roth stated that the MoU signed between IFSCA and Luxembourg’s CSSF at GIFT City has further strengthened financial cooperation between India and Luxembourg and enhanced Gujarat’s global financial connectivity. He also expressed Luxembourg’s keen interest in increasing investments in the international financing sector at GIFT City.

Chief Minister also extended an invitation to the Luxembourg delegation to participate in the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit scheduled for January 2027, as well as the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conferences for South and Central Gujarat to be held in April 2026 and June 2026.
