Shivam Mishra, who injured many following a dramatic road accident in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur, had first drawn attention in 2024 during large-scale Income Tax raids on his family’s tobacco business, NDTV reported.
Shivam Mishra is the son of tobacco trader KK Mishra, who heads Banshidhar Tobacco Private Limited, a firm that supplies products to major pan masala groups.
The Income Tax Department had carried out coordinated searches at nearly 20 locations across Kanpur, Delhi, Mumbai and parts of Gujarat, deploying between 15 and 20 teams across five states.
Officials had alleged that while the company declared an annual income of around Rs 20 to 25 crore, its real turnover could have been far higher, estimated between Rs 100 and 150 crore.
The gap, investigators believed, pointed to possible violations of Income Tax laws and Goods and Services Tax (GST) norms.
The report also claimed that authorities were probing suspected offshore accounts and manipulated ledgers, though there has been no detailed public update on the proceedings since the raids.
SHIVAM MISHRA’s LUXURY ASSETS UNDER SCANNER
The report claimed that searches at Shivam Mishra’s Delhi residence in Vasant Vihar uncovered a striking collection of luxury cars, all reportedly carrying the same registration number.
The fleet, valued at roughly Rs 50 crore, included a Rolls-Royce Phantom, along with high-end models from McLaren, Porsche and a Lamborghini Revuelto.

Income Tax teams also seized large quantities of cash, about Rs 4.5 crore in the first phase of the operation and another Rs 7 crore during follow-up searches, along with jewellery and other valuables.
Several luxury watches were confiscated as well, including a diamond-studded piece estimated to be worth nearly Rs 2.5 crore, the report mentioned.

THE LAMBORGHINI CRASH IN KANPUR
Shivam Mishra’s speeding Lamborghini, allegedly driven by him, ploughed into pedestrians and two-wheelers on VIP Road in Kanpur’s Gwaltoli area on Sunday, leaving at least six people injured.
“The accident occurred around 3.15 pm near Rev-3 Mall when the luxury car, reportedly driven by Shivam Mishra, the son of businessman KK Mishra, went out of control and ploughed into people standing along the roadside and several vehicles, triggering panic in the area," DCP (Central) Atul Kumar Srivastava told news agency PTI.

Eyewitnesses told police that the car first struck an auto-rickshaw before crashing into a parked Royal Enfield motorcycle, throwing its rider nearly 10 feet into the air.
The vehicle allegedly dragged the bike for some distance and finally stopped after hitting an electric pole.
Police said one of the injured, Taufiq of Yamunaganj, suffered serious leg injuries after being flung several metres, while others sustained fractures and bruises.
Angry residents gathered at the spot and surrounded the vehicle, forcing the driver to remain inside.
Some witnesses alleged that private bouncers accompanying the accused tried to push back the crowd aggressively, worsening tensions.
Police later rescued the driver and shifted him and the injured to a private hospital, while the Lamborghini was seized and taken to the police station.
Chaos subsequently broke out at the station, with locals alleging misbehaviour by the accused’s associates and claiming that police were being lenient due to the family’s influence.
Protesters also alleged pressure for a compromise and delays in registering a case.
DCP Srivastava said, “The injured were provided primary treatment. An FIR will be registered, and further legal action will follow."
Police said investigations into the incident are continuing.
