A ‘Made in Pakistan’ label found on a bedsheet purchased at a religious fair has triggered an investigation in Maharashtra’s Pune after a woman claimed the tag became visible only after the fabric was washed.

The incident was reported from the Chinchwad area of Pimpri-Chinchwad, where the woman had bought the bedsheet from a stall at the Sankashti Chaturthi fair organised near the Morya Gosavi Temple complex.

According to the woman, there was nothing unusual about the product when she purchased it. However, after washing the bedsheet, she noticed a tag attached to the fabric carrying the words “Made in Pakistan".

Video Goes Viral, Draws Authorities’ Attention

Concerned by the discovery, the woman shared a video on social media and questioned how a product allegedly manufactured in Pakistan had made its way to a local market in Maharashtra.

The video quickly gained traction online, attracting widespread attention and prompting local authorities to look into the matter.

Police Form Special Team

The Pimpri-Chinchwad Police launched an inquiry after the video went viral and constituted a special team to investigate the source of the bedsheet and the supply chain through which it was sold at the fair.

Police have also written to the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, seeking action if any violations are found during the investigation.

The bedsheet was reportedly purchased on Wednesday during the Sankashti Chaturthi celebrations, when large numbers of devotees had gathered at the temple premises.

Authorities Tracing Source Of Product

Investigators are now working to determine where the bedsheet originated, who supplied it to the vendor and whether similar products are being sold through a wider distribution network.

The incident comes shortly after three people were arrested in Maharashtra’s Sambhajinagar district for allegedly selling cosmetic products carrying “Made in Pakistan" labels.

Officials said further action in the Pune case will depend on the findings of the ongoing inquiry.
