Veteran actress Madhoo revisited one of the most emotional memories from her early years in the film industry.Speaking to IANS, the actress recalled the day she and Suniel Shetty were shooting for Hum Hain Bemisaal when news broke of actress Divya Bharti's untimely demise. The shocking development, she said, left everyone stunned, and Suniel immediately decided to return to Mumbai.

Madhoo also reflected on her connection with Divya Bharti's family and shared why the late actress always felt close to her, despite the two never meeting in person.

Madhoo recalls the day the tragic news arrived

During the interaction, Madhoo remembered that the team was filming in Shimla when they learned about Divya Bharti's death. According to the actress, Suniel Shetty had shared a close friendship with Divya and chose to leave the shoot midway to fly back to Mumbai.

Recalling the incident, Madhoo said, "I was shooting for a film called 'Hum Hain Bemisaal', and we were in Shimla. Suniel Shetty and I were shooting when Divya passed away.

And while we were shooting, Suniel had known her well, so he left the shooting to fly down." The actress said it was a heartbreaking moment that remains etched in her memory even today.

Madhoo reveals her family's connection with Divya Bharti

Although Madhoo never had the opportunity to meet Divya Bharti personally, she explained that their families shared a long-standing relationship. According to the actress, her father and Divya's father were close friends. She also recalled that Hema Malini had cast Divya in her directorial venture 'Dil Aashna Hai', making the actress feel connected to her own extended film family.

Speaking about that association, Madhoo shared, "So I knew she was a part of my own family movie."

Divya Bharti's untimely demise shocked the industry

Divya Bharti passed away on April 5, 1993, at the age of just 19 after falling from the balcony of her fifth-floor apartment in Bombay. Her sudden death sent shockwaves through the Indian film industry and left fans across the country devastated. Over the years, her passing has continued to be one of Bollywood's most talked-about tragedies.

The official investigation concluded that the incident was an accidental fall, although discussions surrounding the circumstances have continued among movie enthusiasts for decades.
