Patna: The Bihar Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) and the Madhya Pradesh ATS, acting on intelligence inputs about alleged anti-national and radical activities, carried out a joint operation in Madhubani district and arrested a suspect identified as Izharul Haq (56).A native of Nau Tola Sarisavapahi village under the Pandaul police station area, Haq was residing at Madrasa Noor-e-Mohammadiya in Urdu Mohalla, Raghonagar, under the Nagar police station area.The arrest was made in connection with a case registered at Madhya Pradesh STF Police Station on June 12, 2026, under Section 152 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 13(1)(b) and 18 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), 1967.Investigators said preliminary findings and technical evidence suggest that the accused was allegedly in contact with a handler based in Pakistan.During the raid, officials recovered two Android smartphones from his possession. “The seized phones and other digital materials are being examined as part of the ongoing investigation,” officials said, adding that further legal proceedings are underway.Given the seriousness of the case, Madhubani SP Yogendra Kumar visited the city police station and took stock of the situation. He said the accused had been identified as a suspect in a case registered in Bhopal.Kumar said the man is being questioned on multiple aspects. “Agencies are examining all angles. Full details will emerge only after the investigation is complete. Police and other agencies are verifying the facts,” he added.
