Political activist and conservative commentator Charlie Kirk has died after being shot during an event at Utah Valley University on Wednesday. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to his injuries shortly after being admitted. His death was confirmed by US President Donald Trump in a Truth Social post.

Kirk, 31, was speaking on campus as part of his national speaking series, “The American Comeback Tour," when the shooting occurred. A video of the incident, which quickly spread on social media, appears to show Kirk being struck in the neck. Witnesses reported significant blood loss immediately following the gunfire. According to authorities, only a single shot was fired.

The suspect remains unidentified and has not yet been apprehended. Law enforcement officials continue to investigate the shooting and are urging anyone with information to come forward.

Charlie Kirk is survived by his wife, Erika Frantzve, and their two children, including daughter Sarah Rose and a son born in 2023.

The investigation remains ongoing. Meanwhile, Utah Valley University has closed its campus following the incident, and cancelled classes “until further notice," according to an X post by the school. The students were advised to “secure in place" on campus until police can escort them off campus.
