Amidst speculation about a possible leadership change and rift among top Congress leaders, Minister in charge of Mysuru district H.C. Mahadevappa on Wednesday dismissed suggestions that the upcoming Sadhana Samavesha in Mysuru on July 19 is intended as a “show of strength” by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on his home turf.

Speaking to reporters after inspecting the venue of Sadhana Samavesha along with Congress leaders, Dr. Mahadevappa, downplayed questions about whether the event was aimed at projecting the Chief Minister’s dominance amidst ongoing political developments.

“This is an event to highlight the development works undertaken in the State under the leadership of Mr. Siddaramaiah. I do not want to bring politics into this programme,” he said.

He added, “People in Karnataka gave strength to the Congress by bringing it to power in 2023. That is enough for us and there is no need to display our strength. People (Opposition) may say whatever they want, but our focus is on developing the State.”

Refuting allegations over lack of funds for development due to guarantee schemes, Dr. Mahadevappa said that the government is implementing welfare and development programmes effectively despite false propaganda by the Opposition.
