Maharashtra SET for assistant professors postponed, likely to be held on Sept 6

Pune: The State Eligibility Test (SET) for recruitment to assistant professor posts, scheduled to be held on July 26, has been postponed.Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), the nodal agency for conducting the exam in Maharashtra and Goa, said the test is now likely to be held on Sept 6. An official from the university said, “The decision was taken to avoid inconvenience to candidates as the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) has scheduled multiple direct recruitment examinations on July 26.

Holding both examinations on the same day would have forced many candidates to choose one over the other”.Another reason stated for the postponement is the Ashadhi Wari pilgrimage, which will continue till July 25. "Large-scale movement of pilgrims and traffic restrictions could disrupt transport and make it difficult for candidates to reach examination centres on time.” the official said.Sept 6 has been announced as the tentative date, and if any academic or administrative issues arise, they will be reviewed before finalising the schedule. “The final examination date and a detailed timetable will be announced within the next 15 days.” the official added.
