Maharashtra tourist drowns at Maheshwar’s Narmada temple ghat

Times News NetworkKhargone: A 25-year-old tourist from Maharashtra drowned while taking a bath in the Narmada river at Maheshwar in Madhya Pradesh’s Khargone district on Saturday morning.“The deceased, Hrithik Mandlik, a resident of Sangamner tehsil in Maharashtra’s Ahilyanagar district, had come to Maheshwar with five friends on a sightseeing trip,” Maheshwar police station in-charge Jagdish Goyal said.

“The group was bathing at the Narmada temple ghat at around 8 am when Hrithik allegedly lost his balance, slipped into deep water and began drowning. His friends immediately raised an alarm and attempted to rescue him,” he said.Local divers present at the ghat promptly jumped into the river and pulled him out. He was immediately administered CPR, but he couldn’t be saved.Goyal said that the victim’s family requested the body be handed over to his friends after the postmortem examination so that they could take it back to Maharashtra. The request was accepted after completion of the required legal procedures.Investigating officer Santosh Chaudhary said that preliminary findings indicate that the victim drowned after accidentally entering deep water while bathing. A case of accidental death has been registered.
