Director SS Rajamouli is gearing up for his upcoming time travelling action-adventure thriller ‘Varanasi’ starring Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra and Prithiviraj Sukumaran. Recently, as part of his Europe tour, he is showing his films to audiences in France and Switzerland.
During a special screening of ‘RRR’ in Paris, the audience also got to watch exclusive glimpses of ‘Varanasi’ and ‘Baahubali: The Eternal War Part 1’.
Reaction to ‘Varanasi’ first look
The first look of ‘Varanasi’, starring Mahesh Babu, received a huge response. As soon as Mahesh Babu appeared on screen, people in the theatre started clapping, cheering and whistling. The applause continued even after the glimpse ended.The official Instagram page of Varanasi shared a video showing the audience's reaction in France.
The makers wrote, "In Annecy, France!! 1000's of miles away from India, 100's of French audience at an #RRRMovie screening and the applause for the #Varanasi glimpse was surreal..."
About Rajamouli's Europe tour
SS Rajamouli's Europe tour began on June 26 with the screening of ‘RRR’ in Paris. The tour also includes a screening of ‘Baahubali: The Beginning’, masterclasses, and fan interactions.He will also take part in a masterclass with Christophe Gans in Paris before travelling to Neuchâtel, Switzerland, for another masterclass and the NIFF Awards ceremony.
During the tour, audiences are also getting to watch the exclusive glimpses of Varanasi and Baahubali: The Eternal War Part 1. The tour will end on July 4.
About ‘Varanasi’
Speaking about ‘Varanasi’, the film is set to be one of the costliest projects in Indian cinema with it said to be made on a budget of Rs 1400 crore. Recently in a conversation with Variety, SS Rajamouli revealed that the team has completed a major portion of the shoot. They have wrapped up big action sequences as well.“What I can say is we have completed a major portion of the shoot. All the important, big spectacle action sequences are done. We are [now] into doing the smaller, interconnecting scenes, so hopefully, by September, maybe a little bit into October, we should be finishing shooting," said Rajamouli.The film is announced to hit the big screens on April 7, 2027.
