Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT) leader and former corporator Amjed Ullah Khan expressed concern over the pace of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise and alleged that some persons associated with the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) had instructed Booth Level Officers to report to designated locations for enrolment work.

Mr. Khan, who is a former corporator, claimed that he had received complaints from residents who alleged that when they contacted the BLOs some asked them to visit AIMIM offices or party leaders for voter enrolment and related work. He said that if there was any truth in these complaints these practices are completely contrary to the guidelines prescribed by the Election Commission of India.

He emphasised that voter verification and enrolment should be carried out strictly through door to door visits as prescribed by ECI norms. “My party would submit documentary evidence to the ECI and proceed to seek strict disciplinary as well as criminal action against those responsible,” he said in a statement.
