A massive fire broke out at a paint shop functioning at North junction in Chalakudy, Thrissur on Monday (June 16, 2025).

The fire broke out around 8.30 a.m. Fire tender units from various stations of the Department of Fire and Rescue Services including Thrissur, Chalakudy, North Paravur, Angamaly, Mala, Puthukkad, Irinjalakuda were pressed into service to contain the blaze. No casualties have been reported so far. The fire has been brought under control, according to the personnel at the Fire station in Thrissur.

The local residents along with autorickshaw drivers and head-load workers sprung into action to remove the paint and other hardware materials from the shop functioning in a shopping complex. They also joined hands in shifting cooking gas cylinders from a nearby storage unit. The presence of highly flammable materials including paints and thinners increased the severity of the damage caused by the fire.
