A U.S. drone startup backed by the eldest sons of President Donald Trump — Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr. — is pitching its technology to Gulf nations facing strikes from Iran in the wake of the ongoing war in West Asia.

Florida-based Powerus brought on the duo, positioning itself to benefit from the ongoing war, following the February 28 coordinated U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran.

“These countries are under enormous pressure to buy from the sons of the president so he will do what they want," said Richard Painter, who served under George W. Bush, according to a report by The Associated Press.

Painter slammed the Trump’s sons, saying they’re the “first family of a president to make a lot of money off war"

“This is going to be the first family of a president to make a lot of money off war, a war he didn’t get the consent of Congress for", he said.

Meanwhile, Powerus co-founder Brett Velicovich said that the company is conducting drone demonstrations across several Gulf nations, showcasing interceptor systems designed to combat the ongoing Iranian attacks.

“Our team is doing many demos across the Middle East right now for our interceptors," Velicovich said in an text exchange.

“We have very incredible tech that can save lives", he added.

‘Significant Equity Stakes’

According to the AP report, the Trump brothers’ deal with Powerus could give them significant equity stakes. However, Velicovich stressed the need for competing with global rivals, saying, “We’re at war".

“We are at war, my friend, we are in an arms race and America will lose if we don’t build fast," he said, adding “We should be thankful anyone is trying to invest in American manufacturing now. That idea transcends politics."

Last month, Eric Trump responded to criticism, saying, “I am incredibly proud to invest in companies I believe in. Drones are clearly the wave of the future," as quoted by AP.

The war in West Asia has entered its sixth week, with Iran and Israel intensifying military operations in the region. On Friday, Tehran shot down two American jets, marking a dramatic escalation to the conflict.

However, U.S. President Donald Trump maintained the strike wouldn’t affect the prospects of a potential ceasefire talk with Iran.
