Nagarkurnool Congress MP Mallu Ravi urged the Union Government to expedite key projects, including Dornakal-Gadwal railway line, Bibinagar-Guntur doubling works, and the proposed Outer Ring Rail (ORR) corridor around Hyderabad.

Speaking during the second round of discussion and voting on the Railway Ministry’s demands for 2026-27 in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, he appealed for swift completion of Detailed Project Reports (DPRs), adequate fund allocation, and the timely execution of pending works to improve connectivity and drive economic development in southern Telangana.

He noted that despite a substantial allocation of ₹2.81 lakh crore, challenges such as a high operating ratio, delays in project implementation, staff shortages, and inadequate passenger facilities still persist.

Expressing concern over the widening gap between AC and non-AC capacities, he said that an increasing number of passengers rely on affordable travel and should be provided with better facilities. He also recommended a rapid expansion of safety systems like Kavach across the country.

Further, he urged the government to take concrete steps to ensure equitable railway development nationwide, enhance passenger amenities, and strengthen safety mechanisms.
