A man alleged he found a cockroach in the laddoo ‘prasadam’ at the Srisailam Devasthanam temple in Andhra Pradesh on Sunday. His claims have sparked outrage and raised concerns about the Hygiene maintenance at temples.
The devotee, identified as Saraschandra K, shared a video showing the dead insect in the laddoo and lodged a complaint with the temple’s executive officer.
In his complaint, Saraschandra accused the temple staff of negligence in preparing the laddoos.
“On June 29, I visited the Srisailam Devasthanam and in the laddoo ‘prasadam’ I found an insect which is a cockroach. The Devasthnam staff is negligent while making ‘prasadams’. Kindly take a note and sort out the issue," he said.
However, temple official Srinivasa Rao refuted Saraschandra’s claim, assuring that the laddoos are prepared with strict adherence to cleanliness and hygiene.
“The laddoo are and will be made under the constant supervision of staff at the preparation center. There is no possibility of a cockroach being found in it," Rao explained.
The temple official also urged devotees not to be concerned about the ‘prasadam’.
