A passenger travelling on an IndiGo flight from Hanoi to Kolkata was arrested at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International (NSCBI) Airport after a female co-passenger accused him of molestation onboard the aircraft.
The accused was identified as Md Abdur Rahman, a resident of Bihar. The alleged incident took place shortly before the aircraft was about to land in Kolkata.
The woman alleged that Rahman inappropriately touched her during the flight, prompting her to immediately report the matter after landing.
The complainant approached personnel of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and informed them about the alleged misconduct.
Acting swiftly on the complaint, CISF personnel detained the accused on the airport premises for questioning.
Following preliminary verification, Md Abdur Rahman was handed over to the police at the NSCBI Airport Police Station.
Police registered a case and formally arrested him on charges related to molestation.
Further investigation into the incident was underway.
In a separate incident related to IndiGo Airlines at the Kolkata airport, an aircraft of the carrier earlier today reported a bomb scare after a threat note was discovered during boarding at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport.
The incident happened on IndiGo flight 6E3074 bound for Shillong.
The aircraft, scheduled to depart at 9.15 am, was immediately moved to an isolation bay as a precautionary measure.
It was known that the crew members found a piece of paper inside the aircraft’s toilet compartment claiming that a bomb had been placed onboard.
Following the discovery, passengers were safely deboarded, and security agencies initiated standard emergency protocols.
Last month, on January 23, IndiGo flight 6E2608 operating from Delhi to Pune received a bomb threat after landing at Pune Airport, also through a handwritten note found in the aircraft lavatory.
After extensive checks by the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS), no suspicious material was found, and the aircraft was cleared for normal operations.
