Man arrested for attacking RPF personnel in Mangaluru

MANGALURU: The Mangaluru South Police arrested a man for allegedly creating a nuisance near the RPF barracks and attacking a Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel on duty.The accused, identified as Shamsudheen, 58, of Cherukunnu in Kannur district, Kerala, was reportedly in an inebriated condition when the incident occurred around 10:15 pm on Thursday near the Mangaluru Central Railway Station Main Portico.According to police, RPF head constable T. Prakash Babu questioned the man when he was found loitering on the platform without a platform ticket. When asked to leave, the accused allegedly used abusive language and obstructed the official from discharging his duty.As Prakash Babu attempted to escort him off the platform, the accused resisted and threatened to kill him. He then reportedly pulled out a blade-like sharp object and attacked the officer, striking him on the right side of his neck.

The officer managed to move aside, but a second attempt left him with a injury on his left upper arm.A case was registered under Sections 108, 118(1), 351(2), 121(1), 351(3), 132, and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).The injured staff was immediately shifted to Wenlock Government Hospital, where he was admitted for treatment. Senior officials visited him at the hospital and, according to the attending doctor, the injuries were external and treatment began.Police said further investigation is on
