Man arrested for filming wife’s suicide instead of intervening

The Mannur police in Rajampeta sub-division of Kadapa district on Friday (March 13, 2026) arrested a man for filming his wife’s death by suicide on his mobile phone instead of preventing her from taking the extreme step.

According to the police, Sriram Srinivas, a loco pilot and a resident of Boyanapalli in Rajampeta rural police station limits, used to frequently quarrel with his wife Krishnaveni.

“During one such argument, Krishnaveni threatened to commit suicide. Instead of stopping, her husband filmed the entire episode on his mobile phone,” Mannur Circle Inspector Lingappa said.

Krishnaveni’s family members, who rushed to the spot, thrashed Srinivas for pushing her to take the extreme step and handed him over to the police, who registered a case of suspicious death. The body has been shifted for post-mortem and Srinivas has been taken into custody for interrogation, the police said.
