Rourkela: A man was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly hacking his elder brother to death over a land dispute in Angul district. Titun Sitha (32) and his younger brother, Bipin Sitha (26), lived separately with their families at Pokunda village under Purunakote police station limits.
The brothers often quarrelled over their shares in ancestral land.On Sunday around 10.30 pm, the two allegedly had another argument over the issue, during which Bipin allegedly attacked Titun with an axe, leaving him critically injured. Titun was rushed to Angul district headquarters hospital, where he was declared brought dead.On Monday, their eldest brother, Sankar Sitha, lodged an FIR at Purunakote police station, alleging Bipin killed Titun.
Police and the forensic team visited the village, recovered the body and began an investigation. After the post-mortem, the body was handed over to the family.Bipin was detained for questioning. “The accused was arrested for killing his elder brother, and our further investigation is underway,” said Prakash Patra, IIC, Purunakote police station. Police said they seized the axe used in the crime.
