Man arrested for overseas job fraud

Idukki: Vandiperiyar police arrested a man accused of defrauding more than Rs 4 lakh from a job aspirant by promising fake overseas employment opportunities, from Mumbai. The accused is Arun Prakash, 31, a resident of Thadiyoor in Pathanamthitta.The arrest was made following a complaint lodged by Albin, a native of Mlamala in Vandiperiyar, who alleged that the accused had collected the amount from him in Nov last year by promising employment abroad. Police said he then repeatedly called the complainant to Ernakulam, claiming that the visits were part of the recruitment and interview process. As the process continued without any progress, the complainant grew suspicious and approached Vandiperiyar police.After receiving this information, the accused fled the country. Police subsequently issued a lookout notice, and he was later intercepted by authorities at Mumbai airport. A police team led by sub-inspector Jayakumar, along with ASI Nassar and CPO Fazal, travelled to Mumbai and took the accused into custody.The accused was produced before Peermade court and remanded to judicial custody.
