The Mumbai Crime Branch has arrested a 35-year-old man for allegedly sending a threatening email to NCP leader Zeeshan Siddique, the son of Baba Siddique.
Acting on a Red Corner Notice issued through Interpol, authorities caught the accused in Trinidad and Tobago. He has now been brought to Mumbai for further investigation.
The arrest was made regarding the case registered back in April when Zeeshan Siddique received a death threat via email purportedly from a 'D-company' member. The email warned him he would meet the same end as his father unless he paid Rs 10 crore.
Zeeshan's father, Baba Siddique, a 66-year-old NCP leader, was shot dead last year, by three assailants outside his son's office building in Bandra East, Mumbai.
Zeeshan, according to reports, has been receiving numerous death threats meant to extort him. The spamming of threats and Baba Siddique's death have both been linked to the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
