Man awarded 20-year RI for raping minor

A PoCSO fast-track court on Friday sentenced a man to 20 years rigorous imprisonment for raping and sexually assaulting a minor girl at Chaitanyapuri in 2020. The court also imposed a fine of ₹15,000.

According to an officer from the Chaitanyapuri police, K. Dinesh alias Chinna, 29, a private employee from Kohir in Sangareddy district, moved to Hyderabad in search of employment. “He lured the minor girl in the name of love. He kidnapped and married her and sexually assaulted her in confinement,” said the officer. Based on a complaint from the girl’s parents, the Chaitanyapuri police booked a case and arrested Dinesh.

During the trial of the case, the court on Friday sentenced Dinesh to undergo 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and further awarded a compensation of ₹5 lakh to the victim.
