Man bludgeons 21-year-old brother with LPG cylinder over domestic dispute

Lucknow: A 24-year-old man allegedly killed his younger brother by repeatedly striking him with an LPG cylinder and then dragged the blood-soaked body onto a public road in Jankipuram Extension on Sunday afternoon, police said. The victim, identified as Aryan Mishra, 21, suffered severe head injuries during the attack at the family’s Sector-3 residence around 3 pm. He was taken to the KGMU Trauma Centre, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. The accused, elder brother Abhishek Mishra, has been detained.Police said the incident followed a long-running domestic dispute, allegedly worsened by Abhishek’s substance abuse and repeated violence at home.

Family members told investigators that he was unemployed, addicted to intoxicants and often assaulted his parents.According to Ramanand Mishra, the brothers’ father and a painting contractor, Abhishek allegedly assaulted him earlier in the day. “We somehow escaped and went to the rooftop. Later, my wife and I left for work,” he said. Police said that after this, Abhishek allegedly attacked his mother, Manju Mishra, on the street, drawing intervention from neighbours.

Aryan, who worked at a seed store and supplied agricultural medicines, confronted Abhishek over the assault. The argument escalated into a physical scuffle before residents separated them, police said.Minutes later, Aryan re-entered the house through the rooftop and another confrontation broke out. Investigators said Abhishek then picked up a domestic LPG cylinder and struck Aryan repeatedly on the head. An officer said the injuries were consistent with a blunt-force attack.Eyewitnesses said the accused continued after Aryan collapsed and dragged him by the leg onto the road. A neighbour, Shiv Pujan Mishra, alleged that Abhishek shouted, “I have killed him, do whatever you want.”Station House Officer Vinod Tiwari said bloodstains were found from inside the house to the road, supporting accounts that the body was dragged. Forensic teams collected samples and documented the scene. Police have registered a case, and statements from witnesses and forensic findings are being used to establish the sequence of events.
