Man booked for recording video inside Srirangam GH

Srirangam police registered a case against a 28-year-old man on charges of deterring public servants from performing duties by recording videos inside the Srirangam govt hospital.

Trichy: Srirangam police registered a case against a 28-year-old man on charges of deterring public servants from performing duties by recording videos inside the Srirangam govt hospital.Police identified the accused as V Vinoth, a resident of Srirangam. On July 3, Vinoth sustained injuries in his leg after falling from his two-wheeler. At about 9.30 pm, he visited Srirangam GH to receive first aid. During that time, as only a female duty doctor and female nurses were on duty, a watchman was called by the staff to assist them in cleaning and dressing the wound. Soon after the watchman put on the safety gloves, Vinoth accused the hospital staff of directing the watchman to offer first aid.

He reportedly shot videos of the hospital staff, mostly female nurses and the doctor.Police said that the staff clarified to Vinoth that the watchman came only to lift and position him on the stretcher. But he argued and continued to record videos, police added. Condemning the incident, Srirangam hospital doctors held a protest on Monday, seeking a policeman to guard the hospital at night. After the protest, a case was registered by Srirangam police on Tuesday under Section 132 of the BNS Act (deterring public servants from discharging duties).
