Man dies of electrocution while trimming tree branches in Alwal

A 36-year-old worker was electrocuted while trimming tree branches in MES Colony, Alwal, on Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Kallapally Surya Narayana, a resident of MES Colony, Venkatapuram, Alwal, and a native of Srikakulam district in Andhra Pradesh.

According to police, Surya Narayana had been called to cut tree branches in front of an apartment in the locality. During the work, the branches came into contact with nearby power lines, causing him to suffer an electric shock.

Residents alerted the authorities following which Alwal police reached the spot and initiated an investigation.

The body was shifted for postmortem and a case has been registered. Further investigation is under way.
