A man in Odisha's Keonjhar district exhumed his deceased sister's skeletal remains and carried them to a local branch of the Odisha Gramya Bank. The man, identified as Jitu Munda from Dianali village, took this step after failing to withdraw approximately nineteen thousand rupees from his late sister's account. Bank officials had asked him to produce a death certificate and other necessary documents to process the withdrawal. Unable to furnish the required paperwork, he dug up the remains and carried them on his shoulder for nearly three kilometres to the bank as proof of her death. He then staged a sit-in outside the premises for several hours, demanding the immediate release of the funds. Local police eventually intervened, persuaded him to vacate the premises, and arranged for the reburial of the skeletal remains. Authorities have launched an investigation into the matter and are making efforts to facilitate the legal procedure to help him access the deposited money.
