A wedding in Hardoi turned tragic as Shiva Mishra was critically injured after being dragged by an SUV driven by Raunak Yadav following a DJ song dispute.

A wedding celebration in Uttar Pradesh’s Hardoi took a horrific turn on the night of February 13 when a late-night argument over a DJ song escalated into a near-fatal road attack.

The victim, Shiva Mishra, who was attending the function with his friend, was rammed by a Scorpio and dragged nearly 100 metres near Pihani Chungi, close to the Superintendent of Police’s residence. The attack has left him in a critical condition.

It is learnt that the altercation began during the wedding as Shiva and his friend, Mukesh Gupta, danced to the music. The accused, Raunak Yadav, son of village head Rajesh Yadav, allegedly arrived at the event in an inebriated state and reportedly pushed Shiva off the DJ stage while hurling abuses. When Shiva protested, Raunak is said to have threatened him before leaving the venue, India Today reported.

Tragically, the confrontation continued on the road. After leaving the event, Shiva and Mukesh were travelling on a motorcycle through a congested section near Pihani Chungi. Police said the Scorpio was waiting in the area and struck Shiva from behind, dragging him and the bike for almost 100 metres. Eyewitnesses recalled chaos on the road as people tried to comprehend the scene. Hospital footage later showed Shiva severely injured, the report mentioned.

Mukesh described the attack, saying that they were leaving the wedding when traffic slowed, just when the Scorpio hit Shiva from behind and dragged him. Shiva was then rushed to the hospital for treatment, he added.

Meanwhile, the accused driver abandoned the vehicle and fled. Police later seized the Scorpio and launched a manhunt for Raunak. Shiva’s mother, Mamta Mishra, has filed a complaint, and investigations were underway to apprehend the accused and determine the full circumstances of the assault.
