Man 'ends life'; police harassment alleged

A fresh video that emerged on Thursday has brought to light yet another case of alleged police harassment in NTR Commissionerate.

The video shows that one Perupogu Kranthi Kumar (42) ended his life by consuming some poison in Vijayawada, on May 21, 2026. The victim allegedly took a selfie video alleging harassment by Krishnalanka Circle Inspector (CI), Nagaraju, before he resorted to the extreme step.

Following a complaint lodged by Kranthi Kumar’s father, Perupogu Venkateswara Rao, Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi (MRPS) State president, the Krishnalanka police registered a case under Section 194 (suspicious death) of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).

“I am unable to bear the harassment of Krishnalanka CI, Nagaraju. Police have been torturing me for the last three months. The CI is responsible for my death,” Mr. Kranthi Kumar reportedly had said in the selfie video.

After the suspicious missing of Gade Sai Krishna (25), this was the second alleged incident of police harassment reported in Krishnalanka police station in May.

Mr. Venkateswara Rao, in his complaint, stated that Kranthi Kumar was deserted by his wife due to family disputes and police visited his house in connection with some cases.

On May 21, when police visited the house and knocked on the door, the victim reportedly panicked and consumed poison. He was rushed to a private hospital and then to the Government General Hospital (GGH), where he died while undergoing treatment on the same day, the complaint said.
