Kochi: Perumbavoor police registered an FIR and began a probe after a man in his forties, suspected to be a migrant worker, was found dead on Friday. He was found dead in a shed located at a private property near a petrol pump close to Perumbavoor Girls High School. The body was moved to a hospital for an autopsy. “We have passed on messages to nearby police stations to identify the deceased. There are no external injuries on the body suggesting foul play. We are considering the possibility of the death occurring due to a drug overdose based on the circumstances since similar deaths have occurred in the past. However, this cannot be confirmed without a postmortem,” police said. Kaapa invoked: A 32-year-old habitual offender was moved to preventive detention under Kaapa on Friday. Police arrested Shajahan of Mattancherry. He was accused in numerous crimes, including theft, robbery, assault, criminal intimidation with weapons and drug trafficking. Based on a report from Kochi city deputy police commissioner, the district collector issued the preventive detention order against him. Subsequently, Shajahan was arrested near the Jain Temple area in Mattancherry.
