Man gets 20 years rigorous imprisonment for raping minor girl

Palanpur: A special POCSO court in Modasa town of Aravali district sentenced a man to 20 years rigorous imprisonment for raping a 14-year-old Class IX girl last year.The court of Special Judge K K Shukla found him guilty of rape, kidnapping and other sections of the BNS and POCSO Act and sentenced him on Tuesday.Public prosecutor Dinesh Patel said Khant got in touch with the girl on Instagram in Sept last year and lured her with a promise of marriage. He took the girl to different places in Vadodara and Chhota Udepur districts where he raped her.On Sept 25, he took her to Modasa ST bus stand and then to Vadodara. After spending a night at Vadodara railway station, the two left for Bhilpur in Chhota Udepur, where he took her to his co-employee’s house.

They stayed there for four days, during which he raped the girl. Thereafter, he took her to Pavagadh.On their return, the police noticed the duo sitting at Halol bus station and got suspicious. After inquiry, they were handed over to Dhansura police, said Prajapati.The man was arrested on the complaint lodged by the girl's father. “A detailed chargesheet was filed and the prosecution submitted clinching evidence during the trial,” Patel added.
