Man given 5-yr RI for molesting 8-year-old girl

Bhopal: A special POCSO court at Bhopal sentenced a man to five years of rigorous imprisonment on charges of molestation for inappropriately touching a minor girl. He was charged under BNS and Pocso Act.According to prosecution, the girl’s mother lodged a complaint at a city police station on May 7, 2025. The complaint said the woman had sent her daughter to a shop near her house to fetch some goods but she came back crying after a while. The girl told her that the uncle at the shop showed her a currency note of Rs 100 and inappropriately touched her. He also tried to pull her inside the shop but just then, a woman customer approached and he left her.

After listening to the girl, she, along with her husband, searched for the man and after the girl recognised him, she decided to lodge an FIR against him.Police filed a charge-sheet in the POCSO court. The court on Wednesday held the accused guilty and sentenced him to five years of rigorous imprisonment while imposing a fine of Rs 1,000 on him.
