A loan recovery agent, Amit Kumar Agrawal, was found dead at the residence of his debtor, Vikas Khandelwal, in Dhanbad. Agrawal had gone missing after visiting Khandelwal to discuss a Rs 1 crore loan settlement. Police tracked Agrawal's phone to the accused's society, leading to Khandelwal's arrest and confession. The victim's body was recovered from the accused's home.
Sharad ChandraDhanbad: A man was arrested for allegedly killing a loan recovery agent on Sunday. The body of the victim, Amit Kumar Agrawal (54), was recovered from Surya Highland Society, the residence of the accused Vikas Khandelwal (40), under the Saraidhela police station area.According to police, Agrawal went missing on Saturday evening, prompting his family to file a missing person complaint at Sadar police station. The complaint noted ransom calls demanding Rs 15 lakh made from Agrawal’s mobile, raising suspicions of abduction.Using technical surveillance and mobile tracking, police traced the phone to Surya Highland Society. Deputy superintendent of police (law and order) Naushad Alam said Khandelwal was taken into custody after his location matched key leads.
During questioning, the accused reportedly confessed to killing Agrawal.The victim, a resident of the Dabudih area in Dhanbad, was trying to recover Rs 1 crore loan taken by Khandewal for about a year. Later they decided that they would go for a settlement and so Agrawal had gone to the accused’s place when the incident took place.Following the confession, police recovered the body from Khandelwal’s residence and sent it to Shahid Nirmal Mahto Memorial Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examination.
