The Nedumangad police have arrested a 52-year-old empanelled Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) conductor for allegedly murdering his brother-in-law.
J. Shajahan has been apprehended in connection with the death of retired KSRTC station master Ashraf, 68, of Nettirachira, who succumbed to the injuries sustained in a brawl on June 28. His post-mortem report attributed the death to blunt force trauma.
Ashraf had been living with his son, Asif, a postgraduate medical student, following the death of his wife, Majitha, two years ago. He had gone to Majitha’s family home on July 23 to collect income from a plot of land inherited by her. He was allegedly assaulted by Shajahan, following which he was admitted to the Nedumangad taluk hospital. He succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
