Agra: A 35-year-old man was arrested in Muzaffarnagar for allegedly posting a video on social media containing objectionable and abusive remarks against right-wing outfit, Bajrang Dal.
The accused was later seen apologising and seeking forgiveness from the outfit’s members in a video released by police on Sunday.Officials said the video, which surfaced on Saturday, contained “offensive comments that could disturb religious and social harmony”, prompting them to take cognisance of the clip. Following an investigation, Aqil Ahmed, a daily wager from Palri village under Shahpur police station, was arrested near Kutba village.A case was registered against him under sections 353(2) (circulating false information with intent to promote enmity between two groups), 299 (malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings), 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), 352(3) (insult targeting religion) and (351)(3) (criminal intimidation) of BNS.
