Indore: A 45-year-old woman whose body was recovered from a drain at Turk Bagdi bypass in Dhar on Friday was allegedly strangled to death. Police arrested a man who had taken her from Ranipura in Indore on the pretext of buying cutlery items.The man, identified as Ramesh alias Dubaliya, a resident of Sodpur, has been booked for murder.According to Kotwali police, the deceased, Manjubai, had been living in a rented house with Pappu Asret, a resident of Dharampuri in Indore, after the death of her husband. Investigators said that the accused approached her in Ranipura and persuaded her to accompany him, claiming they were going to buy cutlery. During the trip, he allegedly strangled her to death.Police said that the accused later dumped the body in a drain near Turk Bagdi bypass to conceal the crime and destroy evidence. The woman’s body was found lying face down in the drain the next day, prompting police to send it for postmortem and launch an investigation.Investigators examined the crime scene, analysed technical evidence and questioned several people before zeroing in on the accused. He was subsequently arrested and booked under Section 103(1) of the BNS.
