Man killed, daughter injured after bike hits truck

Jabalpur: A 52-year-old man was killed and his daughter was seriously injured after their motorcycle rammed into a stationary truck parked in the dark on Katangi Bypass in Jabalpur district late on Monday night.The deceased was identified as Rajendra Thakur, a resident of Gosalpur. According to Madhotal police, he was returning home on his motorcycle with his daughter riding pillion when the accident occurred near Pandav Bypass on the Katangi Bypass road.Police said the truck was parked on the roadside in dark and the motorcycle rider apparently failed to notice. The bike crashed into the rear of the stationary truck leaving both father and daughter critically injured.Passers-by alerted the police, following which the injured were rushed to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Medical College Hospital for treatment. Doctors declared Rajendra Thakur dead after a preliminary examination.His daughter sustained serious injuries and is undergoing treatment at the hospital. Police said her condition is currently stable.After completing the inquest proceedings, police sent the body for postmortem examination. A case wasregistered and an investigation waslaunched to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the accident, including whether the truck was parked in violation of traffic safety norms or without adequate warning indicators.Police said further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
