Man killed in hit-and-run accident on NH-44 near Shamshabad

A 55-year-old man was killed in an hit-and-run accident on NH-44 near Thondupally railway bridge in Shamshabad on Wednesday (June 24, 2026) evening.

The deceased was identified as Julfakar Ali, a material supplier and resident of Udemgadda in Mailardevpally, Rajendranagar mandal.

According to a complaint lodged by his son, Mohammed Umar, Julfakar Ali had left his home on June 23 on his scooter to attend to work-related matters in his native village of Veerapur in Vikarabad district. After completing his work, he began his return journey to Udemgadda on Wednesday afternoon.

Police said the accident was reported at around 5 p.m. near the Thondupally railway bridge on the Shadnagar–Shamshabad stretch of NH-44. A speeding goods carrier rammed into Ali’s two-wheeler.

The impact threw the victim onto the road, causing a severe head injury. He died at the spot before medical assistance could be provided. The police said that driver of the goods carrier fled the scene after the collision without stopping or offering assistance.

Based on the complaint, Shamshabad police have registered a case and initiated a probe. Efforts are under way to trace the driver of the vehicle.
