30-year-old Ravindra was killed in a hit-and-run accident on Sohna-Gurgaon road
Gurgaon: A 30-year-old person was killed in a hit-and-run accident on the elevated section of the Sohna highway early Wednesday.Ravindra, a resident of Paharpur village in Uttar Pradesh’s Mainpuri district, was a bus driver at a private firm in the city.
According to a complaint filed by his elder brother, Toofan Singh, Ravindra visited him at his village on Tuesday.
The victim left Ravindra’s house on his bike around 6pm to return to his workplace.Around 3am, the family got a call about the accident. Singh reached the Sadar police station and accompanied the police to the accident site. Police said they received information about the accident from an emergency response vehicle on night patrolling duty and rushed to the spot.
By the time they arrived, Ravindra had succumbed to his injuries. The victim was taken to the govt hospital in Sector 10, where doctors declared him brought dead, and later shifted to the local mortuary.
In his complaint, Singh alleged that an unidentified vehicle approached from behind at high speed and suddenly cut into Ravindra’s lane without warning. The abrupt manoeuvre caused him to lose balance of his motorcycle, which then crashed into the road divider, leading to his death.
A case has been registered under sections 106 (causing death by negligence), 281 (rash driving) of BNS against an unidentified driver. Police have initiated an investigation and are working to identify the unknown vehicle involved in the incident.Toofan Singh told TOI that the victim is survived by his wife and a 10-year-old son. “My brother lived with his family in Sector 12. His son’s school vacation was going on. Ravindra’s wife and his son were her native village at the time of the accident. Police are yet to trace the driver,” Singh said.Authorities said efforts are underway to trace the accused driver, and CCTV footage from the area is being examined. The body of the victim was handed to the family post-autopsy.
