Man killed over monetary dispute in Muzaffarpur

Patna: A 32-year-old man was found dead in a field at Patahi village under the Sadar police station area of Muzaffarpur district on Saturday. His family alleged that he was murdered over a dispute of Rs 2 lakh loan after receiving repeated threats from the lender.According to police, the deceased was identified as Putul alias Shashi Bhushan Kumar (32), a resident of Patahi. He is survived by his wife and three children. Upon receiving information, DSP Town-2 Vineeta Sinha and Sadar SHO Ashmit Kumar reached the spot with a police team, and started investigation. Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) and dog squad teams were also pressed into service to collect evidence.The deceased’s wife, Chanchal Devi, alleged that her husband was strangled to death over the monetary dispute.

“My husband had taken a loan of around Rs 2 lakh from one Harsh, who was constantly pressuring him to return the money and had threatened to kill him. On Friday night, while returning after dropping his ailing grandmother at home, my husband received a phone call around 9 pm. Harsh then conspired and murdered him,” she alleged.Sadar SHO Ashmit Kumar said the investigation revealed that Putul was allegedly involved in illegal liquor trade and had several cases registered against him under the Prohibition Act at the Sadar police station. “Police are probing the case from all angles to ascertain whether the killing was due to a monetary dispute or linked to rivalry within a liquor syndicate. The accused will be arrested soon,” the SHO said.
