In a shocking incident from Karnataka, a man has been arrested for allegedly killing his close friend to obtain money, which he later used to buy gifts for his estranged second wife.

As per a report by NDTV, the accused identified as Shafi, a resident of Birur in Chikkamagaluru district, allegedly murdered his friend Puttaraju, a professional welder, for financial gain.

Police reports indicate that the crime occurred on February 19. Shafi is said to have lured Puttaraju under the false pretext of participating in a gold auction organised by a finance company. Trusting his friend’s invitation, Puttaraju left his home around 11 am, carrying approximately 2.5 lakh in cash.
